NO PARKING!!!
So today I was running late for class and I parked in the motorcycle parking spot because it is really close to the front of the building. I don’t understand why just because you ride a motorcycle you get a up close parking spot. If it was like that everywhere I would surely get a bike. I am the lazy person that drives around parking lots for minutes after minutes just trying to find an up close parking spot because I am so lazy. I know that bad because I am young but it is true. The other day when I went to the mall I could have sworn it was the luckiest day of my life. The first isle in the parking lot that I went down the very first parking spot was available. I literally like jumped for joy. That was the first time that had ever happened to me. Another reason why I hate parking so far away though is because I always seem to lose my car when it is far away. I look like that lost puppy just strolling through the parking lot. Have you ever had a car that was identical to your car and you go up and try to get in it and it won’t unlock. You realize that it isn’t your car. HA I have done that multiple times.
HOUSE PARTAYYYYY
So this weekend I ended up attending a house party with one of my friends. I am only 19 so I am under the legal drinking age and Caitlin is 21. She is also going to be a cop so it is a complete no no to drink while I am with her because she cannot afford to get in trouble for distribution to minors. The party that we went to was in Greensboro but we were staying at Caitlin’s house in Winston. Of course, that left me as the DD driving an hour away in the pouring rain. I didn’t even know what kind of people were going to be there or even the person’s house we were at but I was just being a nice friend and tagging along. We got there and it was the most diverse group of people ever. There were so many gay girls and guys and then you had these gangster thug black guys… not that I am stereo typing or anything. I was in complete shock because it wasn’t what I expected. I ended up having a lot of fun though because all the people as different as they all were, were really nice. They had a keg, $5 a cup. Two team sized coolers filled with different types of PJ labeled “masturbating in the tanning bed” and “Becky” which I thought was hilarious not to mention the gummy bears that had been soaked in Vodka for 9 hours. It was a different but fun experience and I wouldn’t object to going back.

NOTHING LIKE HOME COOKING
On Saturday I went to the coolest place ever. I would have never even known that it existed if I were not invited by one of my friend’s brother. It was a country place called Hillbilly’s Hideaway. It was somewhere close to Winston Salem but it was out in the country. The food was amazing. They served you all you can eat of the most southern home style cooked meal. They brought potatoes, cream corn, green beans, baked apples, country ham, ribs, fried chicken, biscuits, etc. It was excellent. Although, it was not the food that made the experience so amazing, it was the atmosphere. It was out in the middle of no where with woods surrounding it and it looked like a run down log cabin. There was writing all over the walls with pictures of roosters and hens. As soon as I left I called my parents to tell them about it because I knew that they would enjoy a place like that. It was fifteen dollars a person which seems kind of expensive but it was well worth it.
POWER OF PRAYER
I have a friend of mine that has a friend who was in a car accident last night. They are both still in high school. They attend East Davidson High School. The guy that was in the accident is only a junior and he had traumatic head injuries. His brain was bleeding and they said that if it did not stop that they were going to have to do surgery. Fortunately, it stopped bleeding and surgery is not needed. He is in and out of consciousness. This is really sad. My friend said that at least seventy people were at the hospital last night as soon as they found out. That was just his closest friends from high school but he is a very well liked person by everyone. He is a star football player at their school and an all around good guy. I really hope he is going to be okay.
WHAT TO CALL HOME
I am 19 years old and I still live at home with my parents. Well I claim that I still live at home but I have not been home in two weeks because I stay with my friend in Winston every night. I hate to be alone and I love her company. She has an apartment to herself, granted her mom lives with her but her mom is no where near as nosey as mine and lets us be. So I have a lot more privacy there then I would if I was living at home. I really do miss my mom and my dad but they are just always jerks to me when I go home. I know they are upset that I never find time to see them but it is just also a lot more convenient for me to stay in Winston because I only work about three minutes down the street and when I get off of work I am ready to get home and relax.
ONE COUGH & BLOW
So I am sure that all of you want to hear about this. I am being completely sarcastic when I say that because most of you will find it disturbing but I personally think it is hilarious. I came into work today, a little late because I am late for everything and my boss said “Allison do I have a stain on my britches?” I looked and there was a big brown stain going down the crack of her pants. I know its gross but you just have to know my boss. She suffers from IBS and she is high strung all the time, she runs around like a chicken with its head cut off at times. Today she had just been running back and forth to the bathroom making all kinds of pitiful noises. They go a little something like this… “EHHHH”, “AHHHH”, “UHHH”. She had to leave early because with just one cough she was going to blow. This is not the first time that she has done this either. She is supposed to be calling me to let me know how it goes when she gets home because I might have to open in the morning if she can’t stay off the toilet.
BIGGEST PROMO OF THE YEAR!
The warm weather still has not come to a halt. Yesterday it was at least seventy some degrees outside. It was warm enough that I wore shorts and I was still sweating. I love days like that though so I made the best out of it. I have told you all before that I work at Curves, an all women’s health and fitness center. Well we are holding our biggest promotion of the year… join for FREE when you donate a bag of groceries. That saves each person that comes into join two hundred dollars. So we are trying to get the word out by passing out flyers. You know how annoying it is to walk out of Wal-mart and have paper flapping all over your windshield, well that’s what we do. We bug the crap out of people by placing flyers on their windshield in hopes that they will pick it up and read it and come in and join Curves. Most of the time, they drive off with it still tucked under their wipers.
TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME
Ah the warm weather has been absolutely amazing. It makes me miss softball. I do not have a memory more vivid than a warm afternoon out on the softball field surrounded by friends and something that I sincerely enjoy doing and also something that I am pretty good at. I was fortunate enough though to go to a park in Winston-Salem that had a vacant field and just throw with one of my friends and do some soft toss. It has been about a year and a half that I have even stepped foot onto a softball field but I noticed even just playing catch and hitting for fun I still haven’t got out of my softball routine. Every time I had a ground ball hit to be in the outfield I would round it and come up with a big crow hop and gun it home. Even when I was hitting I could still feel myself doing things wrong, like rolling my wrist over too soon or something of that nature. I guess I will never lose any of my softball smarts. I hope in becoming a coach one day. If not for a travel team then for my daughters team (if I have one) or a recreation league at a local elementary school.
MEOWWWW
It does not seem like it has been that long ago since I posted my last blog. Although, it has been five days shy of a whole entire month since I have wrote in this thing. Not a lot of new things have went on since February 15th though, nothing spectacular anyways. However, I did get a new kitty. She is white and gray and very very fluffy. I found her at a home in Stokesdale North Carolina on Craigslist. She is barely as big as my hand but she is eating hard food and going to use the liter box all by herself. For the time being we call her “kitty”. My friend and I actually got her together and we are still debating on names. We were laying on the bed blurting out random names to see if they fit and I called out “Wobbles” and “Bailey”. I really liked Bailey a whole lot better because we have two other bigger cats that are names Callie and Joey. I think Bailey just fits in better with them too. I’ll keep you updated on the final decision.

OH LALA!
My sister has a boyfriend. This is a complete shocker to everyone in my family because she has been seeing the same guy since 9th grade and she is now twenty seven years old. Yeah she has gotten really old but she is still stuck on this one guy. This guy is a bad guy too. He has done some pretty horrible things to her in her life time and my family is totally against him. Well two years ago when they were trying to work things out again she ended up getting pregnant with his child. Now they don't even see or speak much and this guy has nothing to do with his son. My sister is the best mom in the world though and she loves her little boy to death. He is the best thing that has ever happened to her. Well she has had a hard time getting back up on her feet because this guy pushed her to her limit but she is back in school and has made a few friends. One of her friends and her husband introduced my sister to one of his co-workers and they hit it off. He is a little older but seems to really like my sister and my sister seems to be handling it well. She usually runs from people like him that are really infatuated by her because she likes to play hard to get but not this time!

HIP HIP HORAAAYYY
I was just recently accepted into the Student Ambassador Program here at Davidson County Community College. I must add that this is probably one of the highest honors I have ever received, besides winning the DARE essay contest in the fifth grade. There are a lot of guidelines and requirements to keep the roll as a Student Ambassador. You must keep a GPA of 3.0 or higher and complete a certain number of community service hours per semester. They also take potential students around campus and give tours and show them what Davidson County Community College is all about. I am actually going along on a tour coming up sometime this month with a Ambassador that has been in the program a little longer than I have to get a feel for what they really do and say when they are touring. I also helped out with FAFSA day that was held in the library. I was so surprised at everything I learned personally from being up there and answering other peoples questions. This was the first time that I had met any of the other Ambassadors and I really felt welcomed. I hope I can maintain all the guidelines and hold myself up to this standard
BRRR
Who likes work? I know I sure don’t. I don’t do anything at work but sit here and freeze my you know what off and watch old woman work out anyways. I am all the time doing computer work because my boss is computer illiterate, which is what I am for. But that’s not my point. I work at CURVES. It is an all woman’s health and fitness center. Instead of lifting dead weights you use hydraulic machines. It is pretty cool and it does actually work but no matter the type of workout you are supposed to work up some kind of sweat. Not in this environment. It stays sixty degrees in here at all time. My nosey is constantly running and my hands are so numb that I can barely feel the keys beneath my fingers. I used to turn up and down the heat and adjust it to wherever I was most comfortable in here which was usually like 70 but then the old ladies would complain. That’s not the major part though, my boss’s bill was $130 dollars over the normal rate. So now there is a sign above the thermostat stating to ALL staff: please do not touch.
Bumb In The Road...
More like a bump in my TIRE. Ok so my morning started off a little unusual and when I said unusual I mean it in a bad way. I was late for class this morning because eight doe about ran out in front of me on the way to school. That scared me but I must say they were beautiful. They reminded me of little Bambi’s. When I got to school, I was 10 minutes late and my teacher had already locked the door so I had to knock. I hated that because I hate when everyone stares and you and probably thinks… “I wonder why she is late”. Not to mention, I still do not have my book for this class because its so expensive and last class we were specifically told not to come if we weren’t going to bring our textbook, but I made sure to take really good notes. Then I got home from class and noticed my CD case that I haven’t picked up in forever and decided to grab it on my way to work so I could listen to some good old music. Well I was jamming my whole way up to work. I work in Winston so it is about a 35 minute drive. The more I love the music the more pumped I get and the harder my foot presses down on that gas peddle. I have a speeding problem anyway. I went around a curve and ran up on the curb. I was still just singing along in my head trying to forget it even happened but my car started driving funny. I was only like 5 minutes away from work though so I kept driving. I got to work and got out and my tire looks like it has a big zit waiting to be popped. So I called my dad and she said that I had busted a thread or tread or something in my tire and it is going to have to be replaced… GREAT, just MY luck!
Valentine's Day!
Valentine’s Day, a National holiday of LOVE… seriously? I wonder who came up with this and where it originated from. I know I probably learned this in elementary school or something but it just seems like there is no significant meaning behind it. Of course, you get good presents and a reason to be romantic but if you don’t have someone to spend it with or someone to look forward to doing something for then it is seriously pointless. I thought my Valentine’s Day was going to suck this year but I was fortunate enough to have the best Valentine’s Day I have ever had. I really learned what it was like to appreciate the small things and the importance of love. I also did my very first romantic thing EVER for someone. I was really nervous because it was really corny and I didn’t know what the reaction would be… it was beautiful. I loved seeing the smile and appreciation of what I did. It was definitely worth it and I think it earned me some brownie points. I mean extra stuff that I did isn’t the only way to show someone you love them, because it was really cliché what I did but I personalized it and made it different in it’s own little ways to make it more special.

We're on a mission!
So Caitlin and I woke up at 11:00am, the earliest we have EVER woke up while staying together. We pulled back the curtains, looked outside, and everything was heavenly white. Excitement ran through us and then disappointment because we realized that while we were at Wal-Mart the night before we forgot to get stuff to eat for lunch. We were starving. She looked at me and I looked back and her and I said “let’s do it”. She has a mustang and the last time it snowed, we got stuck. Her mom’s car got stuck last time too, so it was up to my car. I have a Jetta. It is a pretty good car but definitely doesn’t have any high tech 4-wheel drive or anything like that. I can also recall speaking to my dad over the telephone saying “of course I won’t take the car out in this weather, I am more responsible than that”, but I pushed that to the back of my mind because my hunger came first! My car had no problem on the snow and ice. She was a champ. While we were out we decided that we should go look for a sled so we could have some fun. We were on a mission, determined to find one. Everywhere we went was completely sold out of sleds. This included Wal-Mart which has EVERYTHING, and the Tractor Supply. A nice old man told us about a privately owned hardware store that still had some in stock but told us to hurry. So we got in my car and scurried on down the road. We made it there in time, we got a green and an orange sled plus two pair of gloves we thought would not get wet and would keep us warm. After ringing all this up and $55 dollars later we headed back to Wal-Mart, making it like the 3rd trip in two days. We looked for snow boots, of course they were all out so we improvised and got some really ugly boots that you wear on normal occasions ( I don’t know who would actually wear them to go out). We both got a pair of long johns to go under out clothes and some other things. $60 more dollars later we were to enjoy the snow.
LET IT SNOW!!!
I was on my way up to Winston to stay with a friend on Friday afternoon. I knew they were calling for snow. I heard reports of it snowing in some of the surrounding areas but by the time I left it still wasn’t snowing in Lexington. The more I crept up on the city of Winston Salem the more and more it looked like snow. As soon as I hit a certain point on Hwy 52 the snow just started pouring down instantly. Everything was already getting covered. I looked around and all I saw was white. This was about the time I reached Winston Salem State and down town Winston but where I was going was a little further. At this point I knew I was going to be snowed in all weekend with my friend Caitlin. I was panicking because the snow was accumulating fast. I was texting her while she was at work telling her the first thing we needed to do was go to Wal-Mart to get some groceries because if I was going to be snowed in all weekend, I was going to eat! She kind of just shook it off like it wasn’t a big deal and there was no need to be in a hurry. So I asked her “HAVEN’T YOU LOOKED OUTSIDE, IT’S COVERED” she replied “it’s only tiny flakes here”. There was no possible way that it was snowing in this certain spot I was at right now and just five to ten minutes up the road it was barely doing anything. Sure enough when I got to her house, nothing was even falling from the sky. It didn’t even start snowing here until 8pm that night. We seriously thought we were getting gypped and it was going to skip up. So we took our time, went out to eat and fiddled around at Wal-Mart for while. We walked out, bags in hand, ready to leave, not expecting any snow… and the whole parking lot was covered. You could barely see an inch in front of your face because the flakes were coming down so hard. It looked like confetti at a party getting thrown out of airplanes on to everything below. The next morning we woke up to about eight inches of pure powdery snow!
Appreciate the small things...
Friday is my day off. I have no school, no work, and no nothing. However, I did wait till the last minute to do an assignment that was due on the following Monday for my Southern Culture class. I had to interview a person 65 years or older that grew up on a farm. I asked questions about their lifestyle and how things have evolved since then. I interviewed my mom’s boss. He is 73 years old and grew up on a 60 acre farm as a little boy. I thought 60 acres was a lot of land. This had to mean that he came from one of the few families that grew up wealthy back then, but he said they grew up poor. I found that surprising because anyone these days that owns that much land must have a substantial amount of money. I also found it interesting that they were completely self-sufficient. They grew their own food, did everything by hand, and made their own clothes, even their own soap. The only thing that they bought from a store was salt, sugar, and coffee. I could not imagine living back then especially being familiar with the way things work today. The last question which I thought was the most important was if he thought that the lifestyle back then was better than the one he was living in now. He said he preferred today over the old days because everything is more convenient, but he did make it a point to say that he misses the way the people came together back when he was growing up. He thinks that everyone should appreciate the privileges that we have available for us today.

Bueno!!!
One of my favorite things to do is eat. I love going out to eat at different restaurants and trying new things. When I travel out of town the most exciting part to me is choosing where I should have dinner. Although I like trying new things most of the things I do end up trying are always Mexican based foods. I try to shy myself away from doing that so I can get more of a variety and a better experience, but I just love Mexican food. If someone asks me “Allison where do you want to go eat” I respond with “that’s a dumb question” because they know I always chose to go out for Mexican. Most of the time the people who ask for my input are okay with that because we have a lot of delicious Mexicans restaurants to choose from near by. If they aren’t okay with it, they know to specify “I don’t want Mexican tonight”. The reason I am writing about this is because I am really craving it right now. I haven’t eaten it in a while and today I have had to go the whole day without eating a single thing. I am having a procedure done that requires me to eat only chicken broth, Jello (not red, which is my favorite kind), and popsicles. I am starving here!! So, I am using this blog to vent. Tomorrow when this is all over with, you better believe I will be stuffing my face with a warm, scrumptious, grilled chicken and cheese quesadilla that is smoking hot with cheese pouring down every side. YUMMMMM!!!!

1st week completed
I have successfully made it through the first week of my second semester at DCCC. I was really excited to start back. I know, it sounds crazy because what 19 year old is ready to start school after a long break? It is all because last semester ended on a good note for me. I ended up doing really well in all my classes and it gave me motivation to only do better this semester. I have four classes, and all four classes I think I will enjoy. However, I am a little overwhelmed after reading the multiple syllabuses I received today and all the work that is going to be required. Although, looking at the work on paper is always much more discouraging than actually completing one assignment at a time. I hope I can stay motivated till the end of the semester. Then I will be one step closer to being done. Everything about this semester is beneficial to me. I will learn a lot in all my classes, but I will enjoy doing it at the same time. I do not have an 8 o’clock class, instead I have this class at 9:30 and I am out everyday by 12:20. I will keep you updated and the progress of my semester.
